Here's my favorite shot of the girls. They were exploring this weekend at Cannonsburgh Village.

Cicadas Invade!
So we aren't sure exactly how many Cicadas invaded our backyard today...we asked Jeryn and she counted at least nine.
On second look, it is at least a few thousand. Pretty gross...and loud for that matter.
Here's a little look for all our Minnesota friends:

Hey Griswold, nice lights!
We put up the Christmas lights this weekend too...the new LED white lights look blue. Not really what we intended, as the back of the house looks like a a law office or something. Oh well, at least they are energy efficient. Here's what 650 'cool white' Christmas lights look like:
In true Clark Griswold form, we cut our own Christmas tree too. We didn't find it in the middle of the woods, just at the local tree farm. Looks like about an 8 footer:

Rock Island State Park - Holiday hiking
Jeryn and I took a short hiking trip this weekend. It was hot and sunny - which makes for a nice day, but a long hike and not great pictures. Overall, it was a really good trip and we had a great chance to enjoy another state park.

Hiking Season
Jeryn and I had our first hiking trip of the season. We checked out a couple new parks in Eastern Tennessee. It was a bit of a drive, but well worth it:

Tennessee Sledding!
Jeryn and our neighbor Lauren had fun sledding on Sunday. Who would have guessed that Tennessee can look like a Minnesota winter wonderland?
It turns out that when it snows 4", the schools here shut down for 3 days. It made for lot of kids at the sledding hill!

Big Laurel Falls
We took a short hike today to the Virgin Falls Natural Preserve Area. We didn't make it all the way to Virgin Falls because it is a 6-8 hour hike, but the trail along Laurel Creek was gorgeous. Here are a few picts from the area.

Picnic at Arrington Vineyards
Anderson's at Arrington Vineyards, originally uploaded by josh77anderson.
So who might have guessed, but Tennessee actually has a winery or two. It's not quite the same as California, but we were impressed with this place. It's called Arrington Vineyards and it's owned by Kix Brooks (as in Brooks and Dunn).
We took Jody there and had a lovely picnic lunch.
